Whoa! Train Zoom Gone.
Did You See What She Signed? What did
she mean by that and how can I say it in English?
English Equivalents help the student take signs that do not have just one translation in English and help the participant become aware of idiomatic English translations along with some technical vocabulary associated with particular signs.  English Equivalents in ASL will help you confidently continue the flow of information exchange from ASL to English and from English to ASL.

The Learning Center presents
Signing on the Spectrum:
Meeting the Needs of Deaf Children with Autism
October 24-25, 2008
Natick/Framingham, MA

The Learning Center for the Deaf is happy to announce an exciting fall conference "Signing on the Spectrum: Meeting the Needs of Deaf Children with Autism" to be held October 24-25, 2008 in Natick/Framingham, MA (20 miles west of Boston). TLC is proud to be the first school for the deaf to organize a conference focusing exclusively on deaf and hard of hearing children who have autism.

The goal of this conference is to bring together professionals in the fields of deaf education and advocacy with experts in the fields of autism, behavior and special education. Signing on the Spectrum also recognizes the unique circumstances of Deaf families who are raising hearing children (CODAs) with autism. We anticipate that this conference will be beneficial for these families as well.

Our stimulating two-day program will provide educators, parents, therapists, professionals from state agencies, and others with valuable information regarding the education, care and support of deaf children with autism and their families. Friday's workshops will have an educator/professional focus, while Saturday's will focus on family's needs and supports.

To see the conference agenda go to www.regonline.com/tlc.

Presentations include diagnosis and assessment of autism spectrum disorders in deaf children, literacy and assistive technology, and creating effective and meaningful home/school connections. We invite conference participants to submit poster proposals by October 1, 2008. We welcome posters describing best practices in teaching, academic studies and research findings. Exhibitors and vendors are also invited to participate. This event would be a wonderful opportunity to highlight programs and resources to a captive audience of professionals, educators, and families who are committed to enriching the lives of deaf and hard of hearing learners with autism.

Please contact Amy Collins at signingonthespectrum@tlcdeaf.org for more information.

We encourage you to register for the conference by Monday, September 8th, to save on conference registration fees. To register, please visit www.regonline.com/tlc.
